Second trimester, LCCC, and on the road again....

I got home this morning from a great week at LCCC.  I had been every summer since I started going around the 4th grade.  The camp is filled with so many memories and amazing friendships!  I had debated not going since I am pregnant, but since I have been feeling great I wanted to take advantage of what will be my last summer there for awhile.  I felt great this week!   I thought I would be a lot more tired than I was but my body really handled the lack of sleep.  Maybe I am getting prepared for the long nights with a newborn!  I can't believe I am already into my second trimester.  I am so glad that I have had an easy first trimester and that I was able to go to camp. Here are some pictures from the week.

Color group orange.  Yes that is right.  I had to cheer for orange all week.
 It about killed me.

Me, Libby Heyen, Janae Lawrence, and Lauren McKee
I had so much fun with these girls!

Leaders of color group orange!

The entire camp at skit night.  We had 63 campers.

Kendall baptizing Kameron.  This was just one of the 5 or 6 baptisms we had this week.

The banquet theme this year was cowboys and indians.
This picture is of me and Brooke Haynie.  We have been going to camp together for years.  I LOVE this girl!  I am so glad I got to be in the same cabin with her.  It gave us time to get caught up!

Me and my cowboy.  I was so glad he got to be there with me this week.
Most of the staff is in this picture.  We had a great group.
Isn't this funny?  The drink options were bottle water and IBC root beer.  It sure does look like we are drinking beer at camp.
Cabin 10!  We had great girls, thought provoking devos, and tons of fun!

Clay is leaving at 5:00 in the morning to take a group to New Orleans for a mission trip.  He has been trying to talk me into it for a few months now, but today he succeeded.  I wasn't going to go because it is a long ride there and back and I don't feel like I will be able to help much.  He is convinced otherwise.  I thought I would go since I don't want to be away from him for the week and it is not much longer that I can just take off and go like this.  We will be back on Thursday and I start school on Tuesday!!

Ultrasound and Lariat Creek

We had an 11 week ultrasound on Wednesday and then I had an appointment with Dr. Wilks on Thursday.  I am going to be at LCCC during my 12th week so I went the week before.  While we were having the ultrasound the baby kept jumping around and moving from the top to the bottom.  On Thursday I got to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler.  The nurse had a hard time catching the heartbeat because she said the baby kept moving around and wouldn't stay still.  She kept pushing on my stomach trying to get it to stay in one place so she could hear.  She finally gave up and let Dr. Wilks find it.  I wonder if we are going to have a very active child?  Clay scanned some ultrasound pictures for me to put on here.  They aren't great quality though, but at least it is something!

This is a picture of its legs.  It is facing downward and the legs are creating what I can best explain as a donut.  The feet are on top.  I think it is so cute!

Clay asked if that was its nose sticking out!  The radiologist said its hand was up next to its face.  I sure hope his/her nose isn't that big!

I am leaving in a few hours to spend the week at Lariat Creek Christian Camp.  I started going to camp somewhere around the 4th grade and I have gone every summer since.  LCCC is very dear to my heart and I truly feel I wouldn't be in the same place in my life if it wasn't for the amazing friendships and a deeper spiritual life I formed at this camp.  I feel like the least I can do is go back each summer and try to help influence others.  I also get to spend a week with some great friends!!  Here are a few pictures from last year.

Everyone who has been to LCCC knows about the tradition of trying to drink a gallon of milk in an hour.  Seth came out one night last year just to attempt it again.  He has done it for years and it never gets old!  Here are the counselors watching him in action.

I will leave you with the famous LCCC sign.  I will
be back next Saturday.  Have a good week, I know I will!

9:00 and 10:00 tonight

The local news interviewed Clay and Connie (clay's mom).  They will show it on their 10:00 pm broadcast after Dateline at 9:00 pm.

Watch NBC Tonight!!!!!

I have to make this short because the NBC news crew is on their way to my house.  To make a long story short, Eileen (Gail), Clay's aunt (easier than explaining the actual relationship) is the main reason for the show.  Dateline is doing a show where they found people who had a lot of money that the didn't know that had.  I won't disclose the amount so you can see and be SHOCKED!!  Anyway, they got the whole entire family together (including Clay and I ) several months ago and recorded her story.  It is 6 minutes long on the show.  It is going to air TONIGHT on Dateline NBC at 9:00.  The local NBC news crew caught wind of the story and they wanted to interview a few family members.  So, they will be at my house at 4 for the interview.  We aren't for sure when they will show it on the local broadcast.  It is with Meg Alexander and they said it would be on at 4:30 but then who knows if they will show it at 5, 6, and 10.  Since they will be here at 4 and they said it will show at 4:30 we don't know if that means it is live or not.  Anyway, I have to get to picking up.  Watch NBC!!

Summer is half way over...

I love the fourth of July, but each year it reminds me that summer is half way over.  Wow, where has the time gone?  I haven't posted in awhile but we had a GREAT time at Dallas with the EYG.  Clay started a blog for the youth group so you can go there and look at some pictures he posted.  We worked at the North Texas Food Bank and packed and repacked boxes of food.  Some of the food was interesting to say the least!  We had a great time with that group and we are going to be so sad to lose some of those kids to college in the fall.  They are all going to be in Edmond, either at OC or UCO so they better come back and visit often!

This week is my first full week at home for the summer.  I would like to be able to say without other responsibility, but we are actually preparing for VBS next week so I will be spending a lot of time helping out Clay get ready.  (Not to be complaining about VBS, I am just feeling overwhelmed with stuff I want to get done at home before school starts and running out of time.) Eastside does VBS like I have never seen.  They don't do what Clay calls "VBS in a box."  Everything (and I mean everything) is homemade.  Each room that is made is completely covered with butcher paper and fully decorated.  The kids are so good at decorating now because they have so much experience!  We had a lock in Sunday night and went to Hey Day  to play laser tag and putt putt.  After that we went bowling.  Then we went back to the building and the kids got started on papering the rooms.  It really is amazing what all they do!

Ok so back to being my first week at home this summer.  I am really trying to get some projects done before I go back to school.  Next week I have some professional development days for school, VBS at night, and my 12 week appointment on Friday!  After that we go to Lariat Creek, after that is mission trip to New Orleans, and the next week I have to report to school!  WOW!  I am enjoying doing all I can this summer because I know next summer I will be busy with a baby.  And we can't wait.  We are getting so excited!!
