Tammy, Dr. Wilks' nurse, called me this morning at 7:20am. She told me that Dr. Wilks looked at my ultrasound last night and then called the ultrasound technician to verify what she saw. Apparently Cooper is breech and she is going to have to take him by C-section. I was completely shocked. I never saw that coming. I was confused because I watched yesterday where she was holding the wand (for a lack of the correct terminology) and what I was seeing on the screen. She gave me no indication what so ever that he could be in a different position. Tammy told me that the technician was not allowed to tell me he was breech but still you would think I would have some kind of motherly instinct to know that something wasn't right! The only thing that makes sense to me is I know his feet are on the right side of my belly and his hiccups have been coming from my far left side so maybe he is sideways with his butt in the middle. Tammy told me about the C-section and about how they would call later to get me scheduled. I was so shocked (and I was on duty) that I didn't think or know what questions to ask her. Since then I have been asked a thousand questions and I have that many to ask but that is really all that I know. I also remember her mentioning that he is a big baby and it might have been hard for me to deliver him vaginally anyway. Since then I keep hearing suggestions about what I should be doing to get him flipped and to be honest I am still grasping the fact that I am going to have to have a c-section that I can't think about what I could be doing. I guess now I will start reading up on c-sections since I always seemed to skip that information. My induction date was suppose to be next Thursday the 29th and Tammy told me she wanted to get me in ASAP but that would be the latest date since I already had it scheduled. Then they called this afternoon to tell me that Friday the 30th was the first time they could get me in. That is just 2 days before my due date. So I guess Friday is the day. I have an appointment with Dr. Wilks on Tuesday so I can bombard her with all of my questions then.

Chase was that way...breech, and I had a c-sec as well. Some women prefer it, so like you said, at least you know what to expect! I have the coolest photos of Chases foot sticking out of my stomach, so tell Clay to get the camera ready!!! We'll be praying for you all!!
Don't you love how we plan and plan and then NOTHING happens like we think it will!
Everyone's birth plan should be:
1. Baby out
2. Healthy baby
3. Healthy mama
After that, nothing really matters!
Good luck and we are continuing prayers for you and the baby.
C-sections aren't that bad...I can't compare to vaginal birth so I have to say it has its perks. Ask Dr. Wilks if they will repair your abs while they are in there. This is a big deal for post baby flat tummy...if not then they will appear distended.
Please try not to worry about the breast feeding. I go to a breast feeding club and many of the mums there had a C-section and then went on to breast feed just fine. I had a vaginal birth however I had to be rushed into the operating room as I had ripped during the birth. This meant that for the first hour of Daniel's life, it was just him and Daddy and Daddy loved that special time.
Don't feel bad about asking questions. My big advice is try not to read too many stories on the internet as you never know what you will be reading. Good Luck.
Its not bad, I promise, after it was all said and done I loved having a c-section, and just be prepared cause if your doc wants you in earlier, they'll get you in earlier. Just do whatever you anathesioligist tells you to do and you'll be fine. I didn't know anyting about them, but they'll take great care of you! I'll be praying for you and your Cooper!
I have had 3 c-sections. Don't worry. You instantly bond with your baby & your baby will know who His Mommy is! Trust me. I have successfully breastfed 3 boys (16months, 12 months, & 6 months & counting...). Everything will be just fine. Oh and a c-section that is planned is sooooooo much easier to recover from than an emergency one after 36 hours of labor! ;)
Everything is going to go great! At least now you know exactly what to expect...kind of. No surprises!
